  I have learnt that I need to do this:
  
  To show the categories on the same line, you would either need to write a custom category widget (using php), or just manually place category links into a text widget

Hi Byron

Just want to clarify - you wanted a vertical list of categories divided into 2 columns, is this correct? If that's the case then yes, this can be done with a bit of PHP.

If I'm incorrect about what you want please let me know. If you'd like someone to code this for you I'd be happy to, please feel free to PM me.
