Product Id In Address Bar Of Paypal Question

Hi,

My affiliate software grabs the PID or product ID out of the address bar of Google.

The problem I'm having is that all of a sudden the PID isn't there. To my knowledge we didn't do anything to the IPN script. I THOUGHT the product ID was always passed through to the address bar.

Maybe we had custom programming that did it and I just can't remember that far back.

Do any of you have a clue about this?

Is this a new problem? Because Paypal did change some IPN variables in the past while and have affected some older IPN scripts

IPN (Instant Payment Notification) from paypal does not send parameters such as PID in a GET form at.

In human speak, that means, its does not stick parameters such as ProductID, prices etc into URLs.

Its sends and recieved everything by POST (ie hidden from the user).

Its sounds like it might be something that has changes in your script, or the script your aff program gets it data from.

If you want, I can take a look at it for you and give you an idea of what might be causing this..

      Take care

        Bruce,

You're right We had custom programming that passed the product_id to the address bar.

But it must have been programmed a LONG time ago because no one knew about it.

Rick Hanson got it fixed but your assessment was spot on.

NOW we need to figure out HOW to get Direct Track to NOT pay a commission on a $1 trial and pay it AFTER the order is paid for .... say after 7 days.

Direct Track has an IPN thing. But the programer I normally use didn't know how to get it to work. Direct Track is our affiliate software.

Any clue on this one, Bruce?

By the way, I read your post on your backlinks building method. That's brilliant. Probably make for a good product with ideas and more info on how to set it up. You know, stuff like how do you check to see if they're linking, how do you get them to actually link, all those kinds of things.
