Dolphin Script: Any review from Warriors?

Hi,

I'm considering of installing Dolphin Script (by Boonex.com) for my site.

After first trial, i found the error (missing a file) after all installation steps done.

Now, i'm looking for two things:

1) Any feedback/review on the good and bad things about dolphin performance based on your real experience (if you have your site running on Dolphin)

2) Any warriors have successfully installed the script on their own

Please reply to this thread for discussion or PM me if you want to offer your help.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi

I installed Dolphin myself to one of my sites, there was a few teething problems but nothing too major. I love all the options it has available and the fact it was free was a huge plus. I haven't done anything with the site as it didn't quite fulfill what I had in mind and it was only through installing it and playing with it that I realised that.

It depends on what you want to do with it would be my answer regarding whether it's good or bad.

Unfortunately I can't pm you but if you pm me your email address or skype, I'll get in touch.

      Lesley,

      Thank you for feedback.

Certainly i love the features available in Dolphin while testing the demo. IMO it has more or less about the same features with what Social Engine do have.

      And that's why i'm interested.

I've read and did some quick check on Elgg and Drupal as well, but found they have less features compared to above two scripts. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Appreciate any other respond to this.

      Thanks.

    Hey mystarter,

I am surprised I have not seen more questions about dolphin on this forum. I am very new to it, but just did a complete install myself here

I had a few issues in the install, but nothing that was not covered in the boonex installation guide. Still to find time to give it a proper review but will come back to this thread (shortly) when I have had time to play with it.

    Initial thoughts are good though!

I'm working on a site that will use it. Think of it like Facebook for entrepreneurs. I have been doing a lot of research and it looks like Dolphin 7 is stable enough to use now. I would love to see any sites running Dolphin 7.

    Hi,

Don't forget to check out PHPFOX and DZOIC also. These are the more popular ones.

& if you want to go nuts: there is over 25 packages like this on below site:

Boonex Dolphin Scam Script is the most ugly and terrible piece of code I've ever seen!!! Try to digg in the code, change something substantially - and you'll see yourself that it has architecture that is impossible to deploy. Structured programming mixed with OOP that violates all normal rules of OOAD, ugly and difficult to read style of coding - man I'm so angry and disappointed with it - current project I'm building upon it is late because I HAD TO REIMPLEMENT MOST SOCIAL NETWORKING FEATURES what was done because of tight coupling of code and terrible design in general... Don't even think of buying it if you plan to change at least something about it substantially. It might work if you plan to stick with it while making minor changes - mostly styles and colors. But everything over that will make you regret...
I haven't tried other Boonex products yet (and never will do so!), but DOLPHIN IS THE WORST SCRIPT I'VE EVER SEEN. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND USING OTHER PRODUCTS - there are plenty of them.
Considering previous post - why someone wants to lie about company whereabouts? There's no other answer but to fool customers. They say they offer quality product with customer support, which is a big lie. Boonex Scam Script has a lot of complaints all around the web. Try googling Boonex complaints. Don't get fooled - use SocialEngine, JomSocial, Drupal, etc instead. Boonex is a scam.

    Hi,

I have worked with Dolphin script for one of my clients.

There should be no problem installing or using it , but the main issue is with their system architecture & their code framework. Its bit difficult for the programmer who takes up the customization job (as I did :-) )

We have had success with Dolphin - but if you aren't comfortable with php, then it isn't for you.

Dolphin 7 has come a long way from previous versions.
