need help/advice on rebuilding a site on the same server
I'm at a serious loss on how I can do this...here it goes:
I have an existing site (i.e. redwidgets.com) which is live on the internet. It's using a very old and outdated CMS that doesn't cut it anymore. I want to re-create the entire site from scratch using Wordpress.
How exactly do I do this?? I'm not a cPanel pro, but my guess is that I can use a dummy domain name and account to build the site within it, and then point the domain to that account...is that the only way this can get done? My biggest fear is editing the database on the dummy domain so that it coincides with the live domain (for example, all references of the dummy domain name in the Wordpress and vBulletin database would have to be manually changed to the live domain name, I'm guessing...and I have never done something like this before)
Please let me know if this sounds right, or if there is a better way that I can do this!
