NEED HELP TO RESTORE FROM BACKUP

Thanks for any help in advance. I realize this is not a programmer issue- far from it.

But, I am not getting it when it comes to XP and the User Accounts so I can restore many files from MOZY backup. Windows needed to be reinstalled. Now the MOZY client seems easy enough but files that were backed up in ADMINISTRATOR folder won't RESTORE to my fresh DESKTOP.

MOZY Support tells me I need to select the proper User account but I am not getting it.

The old account name from which the backup were being stored was called ADMINISTRATOR.

When I Reinstalled XP I signed in at startup as FIRSTNAME LASTNAME

User account shows as FIRST NAME LASTNAME, Computer Administrator

I guess I don't understand the assignment of these names for user account

If I just left the signup form blank would it have Defaulted to ADMINISTATOR?

OR

Can I Creat a New User and call it ADMINISTRATOR on order to be able to send RESTORE from backups to the Desktop?

Thanks Very much need many marketing files to continue with the business projects.

Try creating a new account called "Administrator" and give it administrator privileges. Mozy is probably trying to restore files to your accounts profile, which would have been named "administrator". Until it exists the backup files have no valid destination

      Thanks for the help-

I just tried to create the new account and when I typed in Administrator it returned Account with that name already exists".

I also did a search on the computer for a little text file by name and search found it in Documentsandsettings/admisistrator already on the local drive.

I right-clicked to try to send it (make a shortcut) on my desktop and it put an untitled icon on the desktop that did not point anywhere when clicked.

The User account Administrator exists but is not displaying in the User Accounts list ???

It's a mystery to me..but thanks for the suggestion.

Probably a silly question, but have you tried logging out and logging back in as Administrator?

Also, check your User control panel to make sure that the Administrator account is enabled.

Thanks for your question and help Bill.

When I select the User Control Panel the Administrator Account DOES NOT APPEAR as an account to login to.

I can attach screenshots and send PM if you are willing to have a look...

Thanks for these links. I am going read the information and learn more about this topic. I need to understand more about the user accounts no matter what happens in this current situation.

The computer has stopped rebooting on a restart request.

I may doa complete reinstall in a few days.

But, temporarilly- I will read the information you have linked to.

I finally got access to the directories I need on he desktop- access through a C; folder restored to the desktop but it is a tedious process to restore every directory I need one by one the the C: folder.

I may just retrieve them as needed.

I do thank you for all of your help- these links are good targeted information I can use no matter what.
