How to Make a Ping Server?

I always see ping sites and rss aggregation sites but I was wanting to make my own ping site in order to help collect links easily. Any ideas on how to make a ping server or if there are existing scripts available?

      I did ask google many times but did not find what I was looking for. Mostly I was searching for scripts but this guide might work. I will check it out, thanks Lisa.

          Are you looking to do this automatically or is this for a plugin or your own ping service?

          I wrote a server a while back and may be able to reproduce some of the code if you are intrerested in it; i cannot vouch for the security, validity yadda yadda or anything blah blah

            This would be for my own ping service. Basically when I building links I have my link building team ping almost everything. So I was thinking that it would be nice to add my own ping service to the list of other services, that way I could keep a log of all the urls pinged, then created rss feeds from those urls. Then I could drip those rss feeds into twitterfeed, scuttle sites, etc.. to help those urls to get indexed. If you have created code to do this then I would be interested.
