Can someone help me stop music on my computer

I found a birthday card I liked that played music. It had an embed code so I embedded it in a web page for my daughter. I started to notice when I sign in now the music from the birthday card starts playing.

I have removed the web page that the birthday card was embedded in, but the music that played with the birthday card didn't go away, it plays every time I sign in to my computer and sometimes it plays when I change from one site to another site. Can someone tell me how to stop the music, I had no idea the music could still play after I deleted the web page.

Thank you
Clint

You could try clearing your browser cache, what browser are you using?

I would look at your processes that are running (CTR/ALT/DELETE) and try to figure out which one it is. Might have to google each one until you find it.

Then after you figure it out search on how to remove it.

Or run some adware, malware, spyware removal software.

Does it happen when you don't have FF open?

No mattalways, it starts when I sign in to FF, I just thought of something to do, I am going to set the date back to before I embedded the card and see if that will fix it. I really don't understand how it got on my computer though, because I didn't download anything, I just copied the embed code and put it on a web page.

      Thanks

Clint, I can think of a few places to look.

If you're using Windows, open Control Panel and select Sounds. Look through the list of events to see if the birthday sound got attached to any system events. Also, right click on the start menu, pick Explore All Users, and look inside the Start Menu, Programs folder, in the Startup folder for any sound-playing program that might have got dropped off there by the card system. Also look in the Startup folder for your own user account.

If you're comfortable editing the Windows registry, look in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion for any entries in Run or RunOnce that might automatically launch the software.

Also, look with Services.msc for whether there is an automatically started service that might have been installed by the card system.

In Firefox, open Tools menu, Add-Ons, and see if the card system might have added an extension that automates the cutesy sounds.

I think this is a great example of how a program is supposed to be nice and cutesy, but actually is just annoying. It really should have asked you for your preferences about whether you wanted the extra sound playbacks, rather than just installing them.

Wow, I thought doing a system restore would fix it, but it didn't. I thought I would check to see if it was on IE and FF and it is

Thank you Mr. Enthusiastic, I will try the solutions you suggested, I am still working on the suggestions aaron_nimocks made, but haven't found anything yet.

      Thank you

I sent an email to the card site, so maybe they can tell me how to fix the problem. I am still working on some of the suggestions given to me. The only thing I problably won't try is going in to the regestry, I am afraid I would mess something up. I would like to thank all of you for taking the time to help me.

        Thank you

I found out what my problem was, and I am a little embarrassed to tell you. Just before loading the code for the birthday card on the web page I sent to my daughter, I embedded it on another page at the very bottom just to test it. That page comes up every time I sign in so that is where the music was coming from, it was at the bottom of the page so I didn't see the card I only heard the music.

I had forgot to remove the code after I tested it, but it has been removed now and every thing is fine. Thank you all for trying to help even though the only way to fix a problem like that is a brain replacement.

I am glad you came back to say what the answer was, because a lot of people who ask questions here don't bother to do that.

A co-worker of mine liked to say: "I see the problem, there's a nut loose behind your keyboard!"

Good for you to figure out your oversight.

Now you can sell a guide for how to make unstoppable music pop up on a computer.

Great fix! I wonder if I can use something similar to stop those voices from playing in my head
