2 questions: wordpress opt-in and domain transfers

Hi everybody,

I have a couple of questions--

I registered 2 domains at namecheap and turned on whoisguard. Can I now transfer these domains to hostgator, or do I now have to wait 60 days. Also, does hostguard transfer over, I want to keep them private as like domains by proxy whois.

Also, can I use an aweber email opt-in with wordpress?

Thanks in advance--

To transfer domains to Hostgator, you have to park-in there by using their name servers.
To park to Hostgator you just need to change the nameservers at Namecheap to use the same nameservers as the domain at HostGator you want to park, then click Parked Domains in your cPanel, and add the new domain as a parked domain.

For example a Webhosting account may use ns1241.hostgator.com while a reseller would be ns867.websitewelcome.com.

Thanks. But what about the whoisguard? Will that effect the transfer? And, will my anonymous whois be transferred with it or do I have to purchase that from Hostgator?

And can I use an Aweber form with wordpress?

      Thanks

        Hey Sink or Swim,

Not sure about the transfer.... never been in that position, but you most definitely can use Aweber with wordpress... I use it currently.

Just don't try and paste the script in the WYSIWYG editor, make sure you go to the code side, or you can also put the form in a widget.

You don't need to transfer the domains to hostgator. They can remain at namecheap. All you do as someone previously mentioned is to update your nameservers to point to the hostgator dns.
If you insist on transferring the domains to hostgators registrar, then you are correct, you have to wait 60 days to do so, and no your whoisguard does not move with it as that is something that belongs specifically to namecheap. However HostGators registrar may have their own version of whois privacy that you could enable with them after the transfer is completed.

Thanks! I also have an acct at godaddy, which is a hosting account. would I have to wait 60 days to update the nameservers so I can use hostgator for hosting instead?

You can update your nameservers at any time, and there is no waiting period.

Just go into your GoDaddy Control panel, choose Manage Domains and select the domain you wish to transfer. Go into edit mode and change the nameserver settings to the one you got when you setup the account at Hostgator.

The change will take effect immediately (or within a couple of minutes anyway).
