I can actually as a techie.

Crons is one of those things that causes problems for hosts with shared accounts because lots of things can go wrong.

Are you sure you can not accomplish what you want to do without crons? What about setting up HTTP and calling them externally (i.e. from your own computer).

Not neat I know, but maybe it is a solution.

I'm astonished. I use cron jobs extensively, for garbage collection on databases, error log checking, cancelling un-used accounts, checking for suspicious files/directories that an attacker might have created, and so on.

Dale, email your account manager (or just support, demand to talk to a manager) and ** DEFINITELY** tell them it's a deal breaker and you will move to a different host.

Also, migrating might not be as difficult as you think.

Often, if you explain them what exactly you are trying to do, they might let you do crons.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I have encountered this before. The host change policies without notification and as I installed a new blog discovered I could not edit the cron. Using a plugin that I have used before..wpcrontrol. Seem to be doing the trick. Considered a free cron site, but I like the internal thing first.

You get what you pay for when it comes to hosting.
