Editing A Flash CPA Creative - Please Help!

Hey Warriors,

I have a quick question that I hope I'm asking in the correct place (if not, please point me in the direction I need to).

Anyway, this has been bugging me for a while today and I'm hoping a warrior with a little flash knowledge can help me out.

I am creating a campaign for one of my CPA offers from Neverblue and would like to edit one of the flash banners the offer has so that I can use a prosper link to track everything.

Here is the code for the creative:

<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0" width="430" height="600" id="clickTag" align="middle"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" /><param name="FlashVars" value="clickTag=http%3A%2F%2Fkvors.com%2Fclick%2F% 3Fs%3DXXXX%26c%3D240345"><param name="movie" value="http://kvors.com/flash/7121-240345-430x600.swf?s=XXXXX&clickTag=http%3A%2F%2Fkvors.co m%2Fclick%2F%3Fs%3DXXXX%26c%3D240345" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" /><embed src="http://kvors.com/flash/7121-240345-430x600.swf?s=XXXXX&clickTag=http%3A%2F%2Fkvors.co m%2Fclick%2F%3Fs%3DXXXXX%26c%3D240345" FlashVars="clickTag=http%3A%2F%2Fkvors.com%2Fclick %2F%3Fs%3DXXXX%26c%3D240345" quality="high" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="430" height="600" name="newcombo46860" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" /></object>

I have put XXXXX for what my affiliate id number is but I think you should be able to get an understanding for what's going on.

So, when I change the part after the "clicktag=" for each occurrence, it simply is not working.

I've tried putting just "http://mysite.com/offer.php" as well as "http%3A%2F%2Fmysite.com%2Foffer.php" and neither of those seem to be working.

My guess is that I need to edit the actual creative in flash but I have no idea how to do that.

I do have Flash CS3 so if I need to go that route, I do at least have the ability but am clueless as to what exactly to do.

I hope this is clear and if it's not, let me know and I will try and give as much information possible.

I would just really like to be able to track everything I need to in prosper for obvious reasons so if there is anyone that can assist me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks so much Warriors!

If am not mistaken, you are trying to track the clicks that will go through this campaign, is that correct?

I think what you should do is a redirect. Inside your "offer.php",
after the code which tracks clicks,
write a redirect code... something like
    header("[clicktag_value]");

#replace clicktag value with the actual value

That way, after someone clicks on your offer.php link, your php script can track the click and will be redirected to the offer/campaign page.

    Hope that helps.

      Hey,

      Thanks for your response.

Yes, I am trying to track the clicks going through the campaign and would ideally like to track the CTR from the landing page to the offer.

the offer.php file is the redirect script that prosper202 gave and what I have used in other campaigns.

My problem is, when I try and change the clicktag value on the script for the flash banner, nothing happens. It won't let me change the URL value of the clicktag.

      Does that make sense?

      Did I understand you correctly?

Thanks for the input so far!

I now at least have given my affiliate manager my global tracking pixel so I can track it at that level. My preference though, is to do a little more advanced tracking than just that (i.e. CTR from my landing page to the offer etc.)

      Thanks!

Makes sense a bit but I'm still uncertain to what you mean exactly. Perhaps if you can show me where your landing page, the offer etc. are, I might be able to help you further. You can PM me your instant messenger name, yahoo messenger or what have you and we can take it from there. I was going to give you my YM id but discovered I couldn't because I haven't reached the required number of posts.

If you've heard of piggyback pixels, your problem might be related to that.

I just wanted to take a quick moment and say that tinkerbelle was absolutely amazing.

If you are ever in need of a REALLY GOOD programmer, I highly recommend tinkerbelle. She flat out rocks.

          Anyway, problem fixed :-)
