Ideas for Free Widgets to Give Away?

I would like to put together an SEO related widget to offer my website visitors that they can add to their site, which would obviously add value or usefulness in some way to their visitors (thus the incentive to actually download and put it on a site.)

My incentive would of course be getting links back to my site.

I'm thinking it might contain industry news or...well, I'm drawing a blank.

I know for example we can go get custom widgets for our sites at places like widgetbox. I would like to offer that to my visitors, but on a smaller scale, and focused on SEO and maybe even local search SEO specifically.

Maybe it could be something really simple too, who knows. Any ideas?

    You've got a really nice website

    Hmm... if its for local search, then how about... a google map widget where the user can enter their own address and get directions to the position of that local business owner.

    So, you'll need to have a setting in the admin to set the business owners location, and then in the widget you show an input box where the visitor can enter his own address and hit "Go there" or such... there is a gadget like that already Driving Directions Gadget but the layout options are extremely limited.

    Just a thought...

      Now that was staring me in the face. As it is, I have a google map widget on my site displaying my address, so I don't have much excuse for not thinking of something similar.

      P.S.
      I'm interested in having this done, perhaps just doing some custom code to drop into widgetbox. If there are programmers out there that can crank this out for me, please let me know what it would take (time and $ wise.)
