Microsoft .NET Framework Question

I need some knowledgeable advice - please

I recently purchased SEO Fast Indexer and installed it on my computer, but it refuses to run. I've tried everything the programmer suggested, and now he's suggesting that maybe my .NET Framework version 3.5 is corrupt. He said this would produce the problem.

He suggested that I replace my .NET Framework - BUT the version on my computer is 3.5 and it is used by several other programs. If I download and install the current version from Microsoft, which appears to be version 4.0, will that create new issues with other programs I have running using version 3.5?

Some advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks - Anne

If the .NET Framework version 3.5 is corrupt, who knows what will happen when you install version 4.0?

If other programs are running, using the Framework 3.5 you already have installed, is it really corrupt then?

If I were you, I would reinstall version 3.5 first to see if you can get it working Download details: .NET Framework 3.5 Service pack 1

When you say the software you purchased doesn't run... does it give you any error message at all? Does it start and then crash? What happens or doesn't happen when you try to run it?

Sometimes, shortcuts created by the install-script are broken, could be something really simple as that...

      Manfred ... Thank you!!

I downloaded the .NET Framework version 3.5 replacement from the link you provided and re-installed it. The program now boots and runs just fine.

To answer your question - the program (SEO Fast Indexer) installed, but instantly, when I clicked to run it, a Windows error box appeared: "program has stopped working, do I want to send a report to Windows".

Anyway, it's now fixed, thanks to you. I appreciate your help.

For anyone reading this thread in the future in case they're trying to solve a similar issue - the .net installs don't typically replace existing .net framework installations, they enhance them with extra functionality.

In simpler terms - if you have a problem with a .Net Framework installation you need to get that sorted before you upgrade
