XML site map

HI -
I am backending a wordpress blog into my clients static website.

I just realized that I am not sure how to deal with the xml site map issue. Normally I just use a plugin for wordpress. But his static site also needs an XML site map. (Maybe a html site map also, but that is less important unless it is really easy)


Does someone know the best way to do this?
Do I need to have two site maps - have the webmaster create one for the static site and I do a separate one with a WP Plugin?
OR
Install the WP (it is going in a 'blog' directory) and then have the webmaster create an xml sitemap that will then automatically include the blog?

I was going to have the webmaster use xml-sitemap.com

    I am sorry, I am not certain whether you are going to create the sitemap in a wordpress site or something else.

    If you are looking to create sitemap in wordpress site, use the plugin called:
    Google XML Sitemap
    You will get it in wordpress official plugin repository. Or you can install directory from your wordpress blog.

    WP-Admin -> Plugins ->Add New
    enter XML Sitemap in the box and click Search. You will get list of plugins. Click Install button of appropriate plugin.


    If you want to create sitemap for other static site, there are many sitemap generators based on your navigation. one is xml-sitemaps.com

    You can also look at GSiteCrawler it is a free tool to create a sitemap, I personally haven't used it with a WP site though.

    Easy Steps for Creating a XML Sitemap
    1. Go to xml-sitemaps
    2. Enter your full website URL. Choose your other options:
    - Enter the frequency your website is usually updated from the drop-down list.
    - Choose an option under 'Last modification'. This is the time the URL was last modified.
    - Leave the Priority at Automatic.
    3. Click 'Start'. Wait while your sitemap is being generated.
    4. Click the link to download the .xml file.

        xml-sitemaps.com is the best website to create your website's xml sitemap. You have to enter your domain and then it will generate xml sitemap for you. You can download it.
