Mobile website redirect user_agent

Hi,

I wonder if someone can help. Firstly I'm not a coder so if you can keep it at stupid level I'll try and keep up.

I'm trying to gte my head around redirecting mobile phone users to a seperate .mobi site using a .htaccess file. I've been trying to understand them and from the example one I've seen I get the idea that the mobile phone is the user agent. Within this file is whole list of mobile phone makes - Nokia etc

I've seen an example one that puts the phone make at the very top level. For example the .htaccess file I've seen simply lists Nokia as opposed all of the Nokia models.

I tried to do some reserach on mobile phone user agents. Everyone I've seen gives a much more comprhensive detail inlcuing each make and model.

My question is, is it really sufficient to put that very top level infomration in for it to work or do I have to list each one of the model details in my .htaccess file?
