This isn't about programming but it's a technical issue and so I figure it's the best place for my problem...

I produce my own CD program and I've been having problems with CD text and false details being collected from the web.

My electronic CD tagging is correct and usually displays correctly in the customer's music player. But some programs, especially iTunes, read something falsely in my CD titles and harvest false data from the web. The result is that the wrong track titles, artist name, etc. get displayed.

So I get customers writing in to tell me that my CDs are "defective". I've had to replace perfectly good CD sets and I've even had to give refunds on a couple occasions.

It's really annoying. The only solution I've found is to disconnect from the web when playing the CD. Then the correct data is displayed. I've also put an explantion in my product literature.

But is there any way to prevent this altogether? My CDs have fairly generic titles. Perhaps if I gave them very specific and unique tags they won't be able to be confused with anything else in the marketplace?

Any suggestions are much appreciated!

iTunes pull their data from CDDB.com Most other programs use FreeDB.org
I'm not really sure how either works, but it's a starting point for you.
    Sorry I can't help more.
