wordpress site load speed increase

hi warriors
ive been meaning to join for months but have just got round to it, such is life. this is my first post so please be gentle lol

my wordpress blog (link in signature) has recently started to go slow when loading, it may be a plugin, or it may even be my servers (hopefully not), i havent really had a reliable way of testing this.

i have the supercache and wp-minify plugins running but still there is a delay. i have a score of 'C' in the Yahoo YSlow! speed test plugin and i'm sure i could get my HTTP request number down. but i want to know if this is really necessary.

can you please load my site and report back on any loading/performance delays. any techies who can even maybe pinpoint the problem would be a great help.
thanks!

#1 - Drop the facebook plugin - this thing takes forever to load; I've seen it drag down numerous other sites.

And yes, the other recommendations are very necessary. You need to "sprite" your images if at all possible (google is your friend here) , combine your scripts, set proper cache control headers for images . . . but first dump that facebook widget.

Sometimes it could just simply be the web host - are you on shared hosting?

Yep, there are many different reasons for a site to slow down. Here's the short list.

    1. Web hosting. Cheap hosting is just that cheap. A quick way to test this is to try another hosting agent - just transfer your site to it without moving the DNS pointers.

    2. Worpress is pretty sloppy at database optimization. If you've taken a few plugins in and out, you may be starting to have a beastly database that is slowing down wordpress.
The fix would be to export all the posts and then create a new database and such, which I don't recommend. A good database tech is the best solution.

    3. Have you changed themes? Some themes make way more database calls then others.

    4. Tune off all the plugins and check your speed. Super simple and cuts to the chase.

    5. A combination of the above.

    Good luck!

Activate Gzip - it's very simple to do and reduces page size by up to 70%, which definitely speeds up load time.

Here's an article on how to activate gzip:

It took about 3 seconds for me to load your site in my 1Mbps speed.
Everything loaded in first second but facebook stuff took another 2 seconds.
Try to delete the facebook stuffs.

    Hmm ..

The site is loading fast if I turn OFF the images. Otherwise it is taking too much time for me to load it ..

I also do a reduction on the image, if there should be pictures, they were not more than 72 pixels
