Should I create my own autoblogging software or use WPRobot?

I'm looking to pull in content and images into my site to create traffic. I'm not sure if it's better to hire a programmer to create this software for me or use WPRobot. I read a review from another programmer that he wasn't impressed with WPRobot so he created his own software. Any advice from a programmer?

I'm not a programmer, but the latest version of WPR has tremendous functionality. I can create all kinds of custom templates and stuff content in my posts from many different sources.

What functionality are you looking for?

Thanks for responding. I was going to get WPRobot until I read a programmers comment in the forum that he didn't like the features in WPRobot so he created his own autoblogging software. So it made me rethink about getting the product. I know you have optimize your site, but I want to see if it will help with traffic as well. Do you mind sharing your website so I can see how the content looks on your site? Oh, can it pull in images as well?

WPRobot has tonnes of functionality, and it would take a person a few months full time atleast to get it at that level.

Even if there were some functions that you didn't like in WPRobot, I'm sure there are other plugins that can be found in Wordpress's huge database of plugins to make up for the inadequacy.

Instead of spending a few months full time developing, In my opinion I would just buy WPRobot and spend the months of time on other ways of earning money =D

          Yes,

It would take a set of very good programmers with amazing foresight to create a custom solution with the power and considerations invested in commercial software like WP Robot, BlogSenseWP, and WP Mage.

For example, I work on BlogSense every day for 4-6 hours, and in the earlier development stages I was pushing 70 hours a week to create a contending product. Today BlogSense is over a year old and it shows in every area.

Yes it can pull in images in addition to articles, yahoo answers, amazon, ebay, even press release material. You should get familiar with creating templates rather than relying on simply dropping in your keywords and going with the default ones. You want to mix and match the content as much as possible.

I'll be setting up a case study/tutorial on wprobot settings and blogging over at TheProductJudge if you are inclined to learn how to properly utilize wprobot along with other plugins.

Yes, let me know when you get your tutorial done. Love to check it out. Buying products is the easy part, sometimes setting it up to make it work properly can be a challenge at times so having a tutorial is most helpful. Thanks.

Creating a new plugin or feature alltogether seems like a redundant job. Why not modify wp-robot itself in that case?

You may also want to look around for a coupon/discount code if you are going to buy WPR.

If you have a specific single task that you are wanting do then thinking about a custom solution is not wrong.

You don't need to hire a programmer to build ALL of the functionality of wprobot if your only wanting one thing.

Also its easier for a programmer to build a module to go into a specific site than it is to release a commercial plugin like wprobot that has to work on ALL sites.

But even hiring a programmer to build something specific I think would cost you more than the plugin would.

just pick the modules you actually want to use from the 'order custom' page:

I am guessing it would cost you ten times the price to hire a Programmer to do what WPRobot does. Someone who wrote he was not impressed and created his own software must have a lot of time on his hands or owns a competing product and is trying to put people off buying WPRobot. I have used this product and it does everything it says on the can so if these are the features you are looking for then do not be put off by negative comments as even the best products will have critics. Look at positive comments verses negative. If there are 9 positive and 1 negative then you can probably discount the negative.

If you are looking for auto blogging then this is a good product.

Another product I have found that I would highly recommend is the utility poster. They have one program that pulls articles for you to use and a Video version which is called video utility poster. I have used the tips they give at blog success and both the software tools is included with membership. I built one site with their tools and I am on page 1 of google.
No penalties or sandboxes for a site having duplicate content etc etc

    Hi David

I have wp robot which is great software and a must for bloggers.

I am also interested in "Utility Poster" could you send me a link to your site which you have used the software on so i can get a picture of how the utility posts looks when used.

If you can't do that then no worries .. just thought i would ask when i saw your post

    All the best

I'm a programmer and I wrote my own autoblogging script. The idea behind this was that I could create it to my own specs to match my own set of sites and criteria while leaving stuff out I didn't want or need. Bear in mind that I didn't write it for commercial release or use by anyone other than myself and that I have over 20 years of software development experience.

If you aren't a programmer then it will probably be easier and a lot less expensive to buy WP-Robot or similar autoblogging script.

      Absolutely.
Buying WP Robot (if it does what you need) would probably cost you less than two days for hiring a programmer from somewhere like India.

And probably less than half a day for someone like bgmacaw or myself.

why do you need to reinvent the wheel instead you can find the ready-made?
If you intend to commercialize the software go ahead, but if you intend to use it personally, I'm advising you to just buy the software. I've used wp-robot and it worked like a charm.

I'd like to chime in with the recommendedation of http://autoblogged.com It may not have quite as many bells and whistles as wp robot, but it's clean, simple and does a very solid job while maintaining really good functionality. Just another to throw into the mix for consideration.

I have been using WP robot for a long time and while it is a great product with even better support, it is not enough alone to generate traffic, I noticed that after using wprobot for months, that some of my website were being penalized by google.

I wanted to know why, so I set about analyzing the output, and found many patterns, now you can change those "patterns" which google uses to identify auto blogs, and increase the time that it takes google to identify your blog as an auto blog, but eventually they identify that pattern and your organic hits will begin to decrease.

I found that it takes a human touch, editing, updating, on a continual basis, even just updating content that is already published is enough to disrupt the pattern.

The pattern is anything that leaves a "footprint" like "check out there great auctions" on every ebay post, this is a pattern that is identifiable to google, it screams to google hey look at me, there is no one at home and so probably I dont get much traffic either, so cut me off, because the lights may be on but hey I am not home.

Avoid the pattern, and your website will prosper, develop a pattern and your website will suffer, all the websites in my sig are wprobot blogs, but I take the time to update them and I try to eliminate the pattern, so some days, I dont update at all and others I update multiple times a day.

I am so unpredictable, that I identify to google as a human run blog.
      that makes all the difference.

If you are having enough knowledge and you know all the details of programming than there is no issues but if not sure go for WPRobot.

I own a copy of WPR, tried it for a bit then stopped using it for the following reasons:
    - The owner/developer is a member of Blackhatworld.com which raised a flag when i found out
    - it pulls un-original content - dup content
    - if Google catches you its game over.

You cant beat original content people, why settle for less

Autoblogged just pulls posts and RSS feeds, again dup content. Hire a writer for $1 an article cheaper way to make money and safer, forget auto blog programs you will be sorry in the end. This is from experience of both programs stated in this thread.

I agree with both sides in a sense.
however instead of using WPR or any autoblog software 100% it works best for me when I mix it up with original content even 70/30 works allowing you to work less while getting better traction.

Test it if you can an discover what is best for your plan. Another thing I would avoid translating any thing from English to X to z then English if you must do it from one language to another and back to English.

I've used WPRobot and was impressed. Alot of autoblogging plugins don't incorporate affiliate programs.

The only down-side i noticed was a lot of random crap spam comments being posted on my blog after activating WPRobot. not sure if it was WPRobot inserting fake comments or if the auto-blog attracted spammers??

Anyway, if you haven't bought WPRobot yet, I can give you a free copy (it's GPL so sharing is encouraged.) just PM me.
