I am setting up a mobile site and want end users to be able to text message me directly from our site on their phone. Does anyone know where I can get a script for this?

Have a look at PageGate with the web interface PageGate - SMS Server and Network Paging Gateway Software

I "played" with this as part of a project proposal earlier this year, inexpensive and reliable SMS gateway services are not easy to find. Hadn't seen the solution Horsestall is proposing, certainly worth looking into.

If you know the subscribers network (i.e. Verizon, T Mobile, Telus etc) you can send them a text as an email, the recipient address is usually in the format ###-###-####@providername.com where ###-###-#### is the phone number and providername.com is the providers domain name. I tried that with a number of US and Canadian carriers and it seemed to work.

    Some useful links:

List of SMS gateways - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - a list of SMS gateways

How To Send Email To Any Cell Phone (for Free) - Article on sending text messages via e-mail, includes address formats for common carriers.

Just use the sendmail function built in to your hosting plan to send the messages. Don't overdo it though or you may risk getting shut down if the volume of messages are excessive.

    Hope this helps.
