I am trying to upload wordpress to hostgator using filezila.

All i keep getting is 530 error can not connect to server?

i have made sure i have the right login details.

Please help!!!

    Are you sure it's not reporting something like this....

    Response: 530 Login or password incorrect!
    Error: Critical error
    Error: Could not connect to server

      Can you login to your Cpanel using the same username and password.

      You normally FTP in with the same username and password as you use on your Cpanel Login.

      that'll be along the lines of http://www.yourdomainname.com/cpanel and you should see a login dialog box pop up.

      Let us know if that works or not!

        No joy, i am following instructions from a guy on youtube. he says that hostgator port is 21? is that correct.

          Yes, Port 21! If you had that incorrect you wouldn't be getting as far as you are already...

          Have you checked your username and password to login into your cpanel for the website you are trying to FTP into.

            yes i did just try that and i could not log in?
            do i have to change the name servers first?

            maybe im better off deleting that database and starting again.
