I know this is probably in the wrong sub-forum and I'm sorry in advance. I couldn't figure out
which on to put it in.

I'd like to get a nice setup for mastering / creating DVD's. It is a service I pay for and would like to bring it in house and offer it to others.

The problem is, I don't really know what I need.

I have a Mac and would purchase Final Cut Pro, but do I need a high end processor to render the DVD? What are the best books / videos showing how to use Final Cut Pro?

Does anyone else do provide this service? What do you use?

Sorry again if this is the wrong forum.

Jim

I've been mastering my own DVD's for a long time, and its personal preference really. You have your choice of dealing with Apple or Adobe. These 2 companies are the heavy hitters of the Semi-Pro production scene, and either of them will more than handle all your needs. So you have your choice of:

    - Apple Final Cut : DVD Studio (Apple - Final Cut Studio - DVD Studio Pro 4)
    - Adobe Premere : Encore CS5 (DVD authoring | Adobe Encore CS5)

There are probably cheaper alternatives, but I prefer quality & stability. As for what kind of machine they need to run, you can check out their system requirements on their respective pages.

But you can feel safe in assuming at least an Intel G5 with 4gigs of RAM, and a non-onboard video card.
