Nothing seems to look right, check PLRAssassin.com for example.

looks good to me? I am using Chrome on Ubuntu.

Are you using IE or something?

I use httpCOLON//ipinfo.info/netrenderer/ to check how it looks in IE...

normally WP CSS has all the right "tricks" built in for IE.

should it have side images or something?

wordpress has a widgets functionality to plug'n play modules, do you have any of your widgets in the correct sidebars?

It's hard to know what's wrong without knowing what it's "supposed" to look like.

No it is not widgets. Would you login and take a look, you will see what I mean. I think chmod may be wrong some place.

The site looks perfect to me too, I use Chrome too. If you can let us know what issues you have exactly we might be able to help you more.

The homepage works, but in my admin panel and on the forum, the forum skin doesnt show and the plugins seem stripped back, like something isnt activated.

then it might be that the forum plugin you're using isn't compatible with the theme somehow. You might want to check with the plugin creator and/or the theme creator.

It is compatible, it was working, I think my chmods have changed for some reason, I need someone who can maybe reset them or find the error.

There are a load of files in the wrong place.

These 2 scripts are showing up in your source code:

    <script type='text/javascript' src='http://plrassassin.com/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/resources/jscript/print/jquery.jqprint.js?ver=3.0.1'></script>
    <script type='text/javascript' src='http://plrassassin.com/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/resources/jscript/forum/sf-forum.js?ver=3.0.1'></script>

and they both are giving 404 errors which means they arent in the location given in src="...."

    This image:
    <img class="sficon" src="http://plrassassin.com/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/information.png" alt="" title="Acknowledgements" />
    is also not there...

chmod wouldn't have anything to do with this. It is for permissions for who can read/write etc. to a directory.

    <script type='text/javascript' src='http://plrassassin.com/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/resources/jscript/forum/sf-forum.js?ver=3.0.1'></script>

all of this is probaby whats messing things up.

I'd say it's something more complicated than amending stuff.

All that code is within the plugin config so it either isn't installed correctly or there is a conflict.

If you PM me I'll be able to help you (midnight here now though so wont see it until the morning :-) )

      Without wishing to sound rude.

Have you tried looking through the items on the simple press forums, as that is the plugin you are using.

If you are using an early version it will not work with WP 3.0, well, Except sometimes and it depends upon which theme and other plugins you are using.

If you are looking for a forum script it might be better to use something like V-Bulletin which is better for SEO than using WP with a plugin. But this costs money

A Google search for "Open Source Forum Scripts" returns around 1.5 million results.(free)

If you are using a host that supplies Cpanel then you are likely to have either Fantastico or Scriptaculous installed - these have a number of forum scripts. (you have already paid for them, why not use them?) as well as many other scripts and features that you can use. if by chance you are on Bluehost, then there are a complete series of videos availabe to tell you how to use their hosting system.

One of the fun things about WP is the fact that not everything will run with everything else "straight out of the box"- There is a steep learning curve of about 18 months.......

If I am teaching you to suck eggs, why then, I apologise.

hope that is of some help

My experience with WP has been that when things go wrong = much wasted time. The first thing I do is disable all plugins and reactivate them 1 by 1. There are lots of incompatible plugins. I have stopped using WP for websites due to the amount of time that gets eaten up trying to figure out where things went wrong.

Oh - I just took a quick look at your source and I see you are using jquery. I have had no end of trouble with jquery incompatibilities.

A word of advice if you are going to us WP. Become a member at wordpress.org if you aren't already. You can search for solutions there on their forum or even find someone that can solve the issue for you.

        Cheers

Never have words been so true. Usually it is the newest plugin, and a path or setting issue.
