cool font changes on wordpress blog

Hi,

I've noticed on a few sites such as The Sun (see below) that the headline font links to a new style of font that looks much more like it's an image or has been done in photoshop. Can anyone tell me how this is done and whether there is a plugin for it. I'd like to alter my theme to do this..

PS.

My site is at www.fitnessmarketingheroes.com so would like to change my standard headline font to make it fit in with the header style better.

Regards

Simon

They just made a separate image for each word, then converted it to base64 and stuck it directly in their web page (rather than having the browser pull a separate image file).

If you right-click on a word and hit View Image, you'll see only that word, and if you look in the URL bar you'll see the (long) base64 code:

    data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUg.....

You could easily duplicate this without all the word splitting and base64 nonsense, though. Just find a cool font and use whatever software you like to create an image with your headline in it and then stick it in your page.

      No, they didn't.

They use a javascript font-replacement script from here: cufón - fonts for the people

You could certainly do it this way if you're not in the least concerned about SEO benefits of a keyword-related headline.

The font script looks for occurrences of whatever tag(s) you want to replace the fonts on, then generates .png images for each letter leaving the <h..> tag intact for the SEs.

You can use the cufon script, just have to integrate it into your theme or write a plugin that does it automatically.

I suppose that I could do that for you, but I don't work at elance rates
