Hi everyone,
Now I know I need to use Calibre for Ipad (ePub) conversion but I work on a mac and I don't know if there are any mac compatible software that I could use for creating the kindle (.azw) file...

Can anyone help?

Another simple question:

How do I add download file (.pdf etc) link at the end of wp posts?

I have found some php code but i'm not sure if it will work in the html editor for WP posts... Help is appreciated.

Cheers,
S

    Hey,

I stumbled across this and didn't see any replies yet so I thought I'd throw in my $0.02.

For adding a download link to the end of your wordpress blog, I usually do this:

1.) Upload said PDF file to your server (let's say the file's called "file.pdf")
2.) Go into Wordpress and type whatever text you want to anchor the download link to (i.e. "Click Here To Download")
3.) hyperlink that text to the file you uploaded (so for example: http://www.yourdomain.com/file.pdf)

    That's what works for me...

Now, I know this doesn't answer your immediate question, but concerning the ebooks for Kindle, have you also used PubIt! to add your ebook to the B&N digital library?

It's free and another solid distribution outlet. And fun fact: this Christmas season, Nook took more market share than Amazon in the ereader-scape. No small thanks to Nookcolor, of course, which managed to draw in a substantial portion of the sub-iPad-price-point tablet market.

Just another alternative if nothing else

I agree with you. This is the best solution

Thanks Tom. I tried the download thing with a plugin but it just wasn't working the way I wanted. Now i'm adding links just like you do.

As for the epub/kindle/nook formatting... the thing is i'm not publishing ebooks at all. I just want a (value adding) alternative for my readers for all the long posts. My target demo is women 40+. They do not have the time (mostly) or the stamina to sit through 2-3K articles... Its just an easy way for me to keep them coming back, "accessible information".

      Cheers,

And this step by step tutorial will guide you through the process of converting PDF files to ePub for iPad with calibre.

If you want to watch video on iPad, here is a

Step1. Download and install . The interface is very slightly different in each version. These tutorial images are captured on Mac, but Windows users should have no problem at all following along.

Step2. Find the PDF file you want to convert. In this tutorial, we used 'The Adventures of Tom Sawyer' as example.

Step3. The first time you run calibre it will take you through a quick setup. The first thing you'll want to do is specify your 'ebooks' folder. This is the location you'll save your .ePub files.

Step4. After you set the ebooks folder, click continue Then select Apple from the Manufacturers list, and iPhone/iTouch + Stanza from the Devices list.
      Thanks Vickey,
Got it. I was just having trouble with the kindle file publishing but the "calibre" software takes care of that too.
Another question though, can the rendered epub files work without the .opf file? or do I have to zip them together?
