Im going out of my mind trying to solve a problem with my site

its at godaddy and although all my backlinks are pointing to the www version of the site when i type the www address into my browser (ie firefox or chrome) the www disappears - i know google will see this as two sites so how do i redirect the non www version to the www

any help would be greatly appreciated

Make sure in the DNS settings that there is both a www. A record set and a blank A record.

If your www site com redirects to just site . com then Google will take notice of that redirect and assume you prefer the version without www . It doesn't matter much for your sites value in Google since it's smart enough to figure it out.
