Categories not showing in wp-admin

hey guys

on my blog itself the categories widget is showing NO CATEGORIES, so i went to wp-admin and went to categories page to find there is nothing there.

any idea of what has happened, was working fine yesterday

    Hey Captain_Morgan, can you provide some more details.
    1. Are you using a custom theme?
    2. Install any new plugins lately
    3. Anyone else have access to your site, blog, ftp, mysql access?
    4. Recently move the site from one location (server, directory, etc.) to another?
    Answers to those questions may result in speedier assistance as we would be able to help you troubleshoot a little easier.

    Have you tried to edit your widgets in the admin area? If not, navigate to the "Widgets" section and add "Categories" to your side bar and save. Check your blog and see if they appear. Sometimes, custom themes play tricks with your widgets so this is the first thing I would check.

    5. Did your host make any changes (upgrades) in their server software/hardware?
    (that's what I had on a group of blogs where the host screwed up some server maintenance tasks...)

    All sorted now guys, the server was having problems with fantastico the script itself, they have fixed it now and the categories are back, thanx for the people that replied, you will get a THANK YOU from me!!
