What is the best way to find out where I rank in Google SERP given a set of keywords I used to search?
So far I used the program from Search Engine Reports | Free Instant Online Bulk SERP Checker where I key in my website URL, and keywords I used in order to find my current ranking on Google, but the result shown does not quite tally with the Google SERP when I used the same keywords in the Google search box.
Will appreciate if someone can tell me if what I did is correct, or else how it is done

    Just use tools like that.

The reason why it is different is because Google has different data centers. So depending on what data center you are doing your query on the results will vary.

Meaning you can rank 10, 15, 36, 56 on different data centers. Most of the time it is close, but not always.

Try using an application called SEO Quake.. I think it only works with Firefox, but provides you with all the SEO info you need for a particular site..

Simply you can specify your keyword in the google search box then in the find field option specify your website name and then search.
