iPhone / iPad App Development...HOW???

Can anyone recommend a program, book, or course that will help me understand the process for getting an iPhone app developed and released? I don't mean how to program, I just mean the overall process, tips, etc.

Thanks!

As an Apple Developer and app developer I want to give you some free advice, I have seen most of the "guides" out there for ipad and iphone development, and they are TRASH, GARBAGE< junk.

Do not waste you money on them.

For the most part they take advantage of the desire of people to create ipad or iphone apps but sadly it is not as easy as they suggest, in one of these guides, they actually had very little real information in them at all.

You can learn more using Google as a search engine than you will learn from one of these make money with ipad app Guru Gargabe ebooks,

So forget click bank there is nothing on there that will help you.

If you really want to get a good idea of the development environment, visit the apple developer forums and have a look around, you can learn more from there in a single day than you will ever learn from those junk ebook courses that do not work.

(yes, I hate products that intend to rip people off)

Just a pet peeve for me, but take my word for it, all the stuff on clickbank is junk as far as iphone and ipad courses or guides, none of them are accurate nor do they reflect any actual insight into the market, which is key if you really want to do well.

If you really want to learn about this topic,

Go here. iOS Dev Center - Apple Developer

    Hi Blondi
You can go the route that Tim Franklin advises. But only if you have a lot time to study on your side. If you have some background in C++ or something like that, you can come up with a small app in 12 - 24 month.
Go with that if you are the hardcore type of person who likes to use Notepad for writing letters.

If you want to come up with something real quick you can try http://com-pad.com/ipadapps/ for the start.

I read a lot of great testimonials. Maybe that suits your needs.

    Good luck with that.

        1. Get App developed
        2. Get the final build from developer
        3. Open account in "Standard" on iphone developer program
        4. Once Set-up you can upload the app and put rest of the info as directed.
        5. After Apple will approve it in few days, you are good to go.
        That's it :-)
Lets add a couple of possible steps,

        6. App gets rejected by Apple outsourced reviewers.
        7. You get an email with a cryptic reply that you cannot understand.
        8. You go back to the developer who tells you how much more money you have to pay in order to get the app revised.

        9. You wonder why the developer did not tell you this to start with.
        10. repeat steps 1-5

From the developer side, I have until recently been working on iOS apps, i.e. iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, since the early days and I can say that 99.99999% of the time even the developer won't know what Apple will reject a submission for.

I've come to believe that most of the time Apple reviewers are simply justifying their existence or possibly have a quota of apps they need to reject per month.
Sometimes you can even just resubmit the same app with no chance and it'll pass the second time (not that I recommend anyone do that because if Apple get wind they can ban you completely).

Actually you can use Apple website to get content on app development. Its free, you just need to register with them.Once you do that you get access to all the learning material. However,if you need a book by your side, the book by Aaron Hillegaas is the best one.He is a well respected trainer and its a very good book.Further you can use forums like macrumors for technical clarifications.I see a lot of potential for the MAc/iphone/ipad apps in the next 3-5 years.Dont start unless you enjoy computer programming,it needs a good amount of effort to get going.

Anyone interested in making custom iphone apps for marketing purposes - not fancy games or poking anyone? Punch Chris Brown and PM me if interested in working, creating, growing, etc . .

      NOTE:
Money is a result so your questions should center around when can I start working so I can produce better than usual results that people will pay for . . . NOT how much money will I make? . . .Or, When Do I get paid? I don't know. I'm not you or your boss.

BTW- This has NOTHING to do with any affiliate program or the iphone app in my signature and I'm NOT selling anything either.

You're right, she's been around forever doing the same thing until she suddenly became known as the "best in the World" for her tutorials and now in everything she does.

Become an expert in one thing and you're an expert in everything. Do one thing bad and you do everything bad.

The State of the New Freeconomy has reduced prices down to $25 bucks from $100's and that means becoming an expert now is pretty cheap.

You might want to think about developing web apps for the iPhone. They have the advantage of being a lot easier & quicker to develop - essentially just html, css and javascript - but they'll allow you to quickly get a feel of what works on a smaller (touch) screen and what doesn't. And you can do a lot now with html 5.

Of they're not as glamorous as native apps - and you can't access all the features on the iPhone OS via the web - but you can create some pretty cool stuff. Apple has a directory of web apps on their site: apple dot com / webapps (can't make that a link because I'm new...)

Also do not disregard a responsive HTML5/CSS3 web-theme as this might solve your problem better, especially if you are targeting multiple different devies. If you're making an app to get published via the app store, you can do it natively (with objective c) or use something like PhoneGap, Titanium, Corona to do it for you -- thanks
