super cache v. w3 total cache

I was using Quick Cache for a while but saw no real improvement. Using PageSpeed, my score was still in the 80's. I tried W3 Total cache, got it all set up and deployed, but PageSpeed showed that I wasn't caching. Any ideas why?

I then switched to SuperCache, PageSpeed showed cachine, and scored 96.

I'd like to get witt w3 total cache because of its easy cdn setup. But can't get it to register in PageSpeed. I changed permissions as required in the directions, but no luck.

Any ideas why it wasn't caching? And what's a good way to tell for sure if a cache plugin is working? It's a Wordpress site, Thesis theme. Thanks

Good way to tell is if the .htaccess has been changed to redirect to the static pages it has created (and look for the static pages as well)

Changed over to Hyper Cache a few weeks back. Even though there is little to configure, Performance is better than the 2 plugins you mentioned. (for me anyway)

I know about checking/modifying htaccess, thanks.
I've not heard of hyper cache -- I'll check it out.
