Course teaching website

Hello all,

Maybe someone can help me or at least guide me in the right direction.

I want to create a private (no pages indexed at all) course website on wordpress.

So far I have customized the way students signup, read the course work, and take exams.

I want to add the feature to give like 20 students, 1 teacher. Is there a feature to help that 1 teacher manage the 20 students when logging in?

Is there another platform (I already tried moodle, joomla lms and a few others) that can better perform this course website tasks, and am I doing wrong by using wordpress?

You would definitely need to create some custom controls.
Most membership plug-ins only handle who gets the content.
I have not seen one that you can specify any type of count or assign users under a parent user.

I do know that Moodle is used in schools and has these controls but with Moodle it needs to be specified. Someone has to setup which students belong to which teacher.

In what way should the users be connected to a teacher?
How should the teacher and students interact?
    etc
I got code that creates groups that users can be members off so it does not mess with the WordPress roles system. Could probably be altered a little so each group corresponds to groupowner.

Teacher manages student, student only picks the teacher during the registration.

Its a course, so once student is done, their teacher should be known of score and be able to reply back.

You could try a project management application and with the right extension you could get all the functionality outlined above.

Have you tried Moodle (Moodle.org: open-source community-based tools for learning) its open-source software designed for teaching and running courses online..

    Quote from their website:

Moodle is a Course Management System (CMS), also known as a Learning Management System (LMS) or a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). It is a Free web application that educators can use to create effective online learning sites.

    Just a suggestions
