WP Blog - 2 Basic Questions

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'd appreciate a little help with a couple of basic questions:

1) On the side panel, WP was displaying something about "Site Admin" & "Log in" to the public. (My friend - obviously not signed in like me, the 'admin' - saw it when he looked at my site.) Well, I figured out that putting a Widget in there removed that problem. But that still leaves the related problem of the hyperlinked text 'Edit' at the bottom of my Home page .. so how do I get rid of that?

2) And how do I get rid of Comments or "Leave a Reply" om the different pages?

Thanks for your time, in advance!

Richard

The 'Edit' link is only visible to you, when you're logged in. It's not visible to your readers. It allows you to easily edit the post that you're looking at.

As for #2, you'll probably need to edit your theme files to remove that, although you might try turning off comments thru the Settings > Discussion page.

Do you want to get rid of "Leave a Reply" text or comments as a whole?

If you want to get rid of "Leave a Reply" you should edit the theme. Normally it should be in comments.php file and if you want to stop comments for some posts pages you can do that under the post/page admin.
