Managed VPS Hosting With Proactive Monitoring... that doesn't suck???

Still on the hunt for a hosting solution.

Likely it will need to be VPS solution to handle the traffic load.

I need something that is proactively monitored. Meaning I can go off to Africa for a month and know that my sites will be up.

Looking at Hostgator now... but no proactive monitoring.

Stumbled across vpslatch.net. They claim proactive monitoring. But the parent company hostdime, doesn't get too high a reviews.

Anyone have some recommends here for this situation?

Any host will do. Just use the http://siteuptime.com service to monitor it. You'll still need to reboot the server yourself if there's a problem, however. Not sure if this meets your needs, unless you can do it through your smartphone somehow.

Is there any service like siteuptime.com that will also contact your hosting company and get the site up (if you're not available)?

I don't know of any, though I would think something like that would be pretty expensive. I see some of their packages send notifications to multiple emails, however, so if you have a developer or partner on standby he or she could handle it.

I know many hosting providers offer a monitoring service, however what kind of web host wouldn't know if one of their servers was down? I know I for one have 10 different monitors all in different data centers all of the world to monitor my network.

you need fully managed service, expect to pay a premium of around $50 on top of your hosting fees.

wiredtree.com is very good at this type of service. you should also go to webhostingtalk.com and list your requirements in the VPS forum and read reviews from other users.

      good luck
