Commission Junction Product Export

Hi all.

I have just joined CJ, and have managed to download the product category which is basically an excel file which lists the products name, description, price, URL, shipping cost etc.

There are almost 2,000 products in the list though, and adding each of them manually to my wordpress site is going to take forever so there must be an automatic way.

Would someone kindly point me in the correct direction?

I have purchased a premium theme and basically I would like to import all the products and have the following:

1. all the Image URLs would populate the Portfolio Thumbnail URL
2. all the descriptions would populate the post which the portfolio thumbnail links to.
3. The Buy URL would populate the "buy now" button on my website.

    Have tried this before, imported ohh .. maybe 500,000 products .. slowly ..

    This doesn't work for a bunch of reasons ..

    Identical Product titles,
    poor categories,
    no categories,
    no original content on blog ...

    So, you have to first enter categories manually into WP, then group all the lines in the file for that category, then run the script on only those products specifying that particular category. Tags? some feeds have keywords, some don't. Most are useless.

    You also have to post slowly otherwise the blog won't ping properly. You could take advantage of something like twitterfeed posting slow, but then, it will take you quite some time to reach all 2,000 products.

    But overall, in the end, your site will not rank very well. Most of these products are already on amazon, buy.com, and countless other specialty sites that have been around for a long time. Without unique descriptions, that actually make sense, that are longer than 450 words, the site is DOA.

    The only other thing I could recommend is to not directly hook the button to the url given, but to a redirector on your site, then you can also track on your side, as well as on CJ. But also, this will be slightly better for seo and other things. You could also try and monetize the hop as well.

    All you really have to do is create a html template for the post, then replace the parts you need into the token then use the xmlprc (hitting it with curl).
