Looking for some help

Hi,
I want to change this site catalancare.com into a Wordpress site. It is not important to keep the look as we will build a completely different look through wordpress. It is crucial to keep the domain.

Can anyone help me with this?

    I would say yes.

I don't think you are getting much help from warriors as there is not many questions you have asked. Please provide more info if you can.

if your current hosting supports wordpress then install it on your current web host. If not then get some cheap hosting that support wordpress, and then direct your domain name to the new web host.
i.e. if you bought your domain name from godaddy.com, then login to godaddy and tell godaddy the new servers, (or if they have new nameservers then tell godaddy the new nameservers).

Catalancare is is hosted on Hostgator. All I want to do is build a wordpress site on the domain. The site is currently not wordpress. That is my problem. Stripping the site and changing it to wordpress.

    Thank you for your reply

Save each page somewhere. Then just create new blog entries/pages in Wordpress with that content.

That seems to be the simplest way.

Get a second hosting account, install Wordpress on it, get your theme setup, etc. Then slowly transfer the content over from your existing site into Wordpress.

i think the easiest option for you if you want to stay with hostgator is to get a free webhost somewhere, transfer your current website to it and point your domain to it while you are setting up your wordpress site on hostgator. hopefully they have fantastico and you can install wordpress with a few clicks.
when ur new site is ready point your domain back to your hostgator site and cancel the free account with your old site on it.

Why not set up a WP site in a sub directory?

    E.G. wwwcatalancare.com\newsite

Then you can come up with the site you want, develop all of the content and perfect the them. When you are ready it is fairly simple to restore the whole site into the main root directory. Just do some searches on "copy wordpress site" or such a thing.

This way, you can craft the site just as you want it before going public, and the transition should take 20 minutes. You can even practice into another sub directory.

    Good Luck!

Thanks for all the replies. I figured it out in the end. Delete everything in public html and install wordpress.
I had no idea it was that easy. Feel like a dummy for asking now.
