Post only visible on main page

PROGRAMMING

I didn't know where else to post this - can anyone help?

I made a post to my blog last night and this morning, emailed my entire list with the link.

It is getting some traffic and was fine until a little while ago.

Every single post on my blog is fine but this one.

If you look on the index page, it is there... but if you click on the hyperlinked title, it says ERROR.

What changed?

It has always been there...

Clueless - how do I get it back?

Check your permalinks. If you have your permalinks set to display the post title, sometimes wordpress will automatically populate the permalink before you are done composing the title. Go to the post page and look at the permalink. It might not be /a-marketers-mindset

The permalink was the first thing I checked, but thanks for responding, Diane - appreciate it.

This is the ONLY post that is showing ERROR - no other problems on my blog.

Wouldn't you know this was the one getting all the traffic.

Does not make sense although I know there is a reason for everything.

UPDATE: I completely deleted the post and created a new one, (saved the html) and it now shows it as being post #2 of the same post name and will not let me edit the permalink.

When I put URL for "a-marketers-mindset-2" it does redirect to "a-marketers-mindset" so all is well.

But is bothers me that I don't know why!

1)install any cache plugin
2)remove the post from trash also then you can change the url of the live post

  Before you typed this response, I had gone to the trash to make sure it was deleted, and it wasn't so permanently deleted it.
  
  Then, changed the permalink back to the original /a-marketers-mindset/ and it now shows on the index page but NOT on the post only page.
  
  I had WP Super Cache installed but it was disabled...just enabled it again - no change.

Just the word "error" appears and nothing else? You seeing your theme? You seeing anything else? Is there anything in your error log? Anything odd in that post like strange characters, or something odd in the title?

If you make another post will it say error?

A possible fix if you just want your traffic to see the proper page while you figure things out:

1.) Make a new page.
2.) Make a htaccess rule to redirect all traffic going to the bad page to the good new page. Add it to the htaccess file.

Firefox is showing me a redirection error (circular redirection, meaning it won't stop). If you want, I'll take a quick look, just email me your new FTP password. You DID change it from the last go-around, didn't you?

  Well, I figured out a simple fix.
  
  I changed the permalink by adding a "z" to the last word.
  
  Google seems to disregard that and seemingly "throws it out" and redirects to the correct URL.
