mp3 encoding question

We have over 600 mp3 files created by doctors and have a tough issue we cant find a solution for.

they want to secure the mp3 files from people downloading them with tools like orbit and the FF addon.

What were trying to find the way of doing is encoding the files and having a player that will play the encoded mp3 files.

I have searched all over and not finding anything to be able to do this.

Does anyone know of a encoding program and web player that is cross platform that can do this so if anyone downloads the m3 file they can not play it.

You can't find anything, because you can't secure mp3 files. They need to be in another format that has DRM (digital rights management) capabilities like WMA.

Even then, you can't prevent anyone from just recording the playback.

Were not trying to stop people from recording it. what were trying to stop is people being able to use download helper plugin for FF and stuff like that. also do not want the user to be able to just download the track and listen to it on there computer.

i already know that if its on the web someone can find a way to steal it. this is nothing new to me. were just trying to stop people from having the easy ways of doing it.

its like this. if a honest person can just take it they will but if they have to work at it they usually wont.

im not asking for the holy grail of security but i know it can be done. places like hulu, netflix and others do this. you can listen or watch on there site but the things that help them download it do not work.

i know when a user watches or listens to something on a website its stored in there cache folder and im not sure anything can be done about this.

we just want to secure up out audio stuff to a point that it makes it hard for a user to just have it on there computer and share it.

we cant convert them to wav files. they are special encoded audio sessions that have underlying tones for a device they go to.

You could encrypt the files before uploading them with encryption software so that they are encrypted files. Then the only way to play them once downloaded would be if you could decrypt them using a password.
