    It depends on what you want to accomplish. If you want to go into web development, then PHP is the most popular. If you want develop desktop applications, then go for Java.

    My suggestion would be to look into any .net language. You may also want to check current job listings in the software development field in your area and see what has the highest pay/most listings. Personally, I find C# to be a great language for my area. Don't be afraid to branch out and learn more than one language. Since programming is mostly logic, once you learn the logic of one language it is usually pretty easy to pickup another language.

    Hello,

    I thinks you should learn .Net or JAVA. Because both the languages are having good earning scope and both are widely used for web development.

      According to me Java, .Net along with PL/MySQL is right option for learning. Just because this language is vastly popular and effective for programming.

      It really depends on the kind of client you'd like to work for. For instance, a lot of well funded start up companies are hiring Ruby, Python, and Javascript developers (We're talking 90-150k Salary), but a lot of small or corporate businesses look to well known programming languages: C, PHP, or Java, but pay significantly less.

      Any programming language worth it's salt can do what any other programming language can do. Some languages do some things very well, for instance web development is the strongest domain of:

      * Ruby
      * Python
      * PHP (Pretty much the only domain...)
      * Javascript

      While desktop applications tend to be the strongest domains in these languages:

      * C
      * C++
      * Objective C
      * C#, and the family
      * Java

    Actually have a network of friends who specialize on different programming languages. Here are a thoughts of them.

    PHP - Fits right to most freelancers(like me) up to large scale companies (Pay is on average)
    Java - Small business to Large companies (Pay is above average)
    Coldfusion - Mostly used by large companies (Pay is amazing, $6000-$10000 /month)

    These are just my own point of views based on my friends as well as my experience. We all have different shares on this area.

    Go in for C# and .net. ASP.net MVC for web development is good. PHP is good too.

    .NET .ASP, VB and such if you're going to stay more on the Windows side. My experience though has been with UNIX/Linux OSes, so Ruby, PHP and a bit of perl have kept me in work

        There are a lot of problems with PHP, like any language, so I wouldn't go around bandying it as the "best".

    If you freelancer : chose the easiest for you, cause customer will not ask for specific language.

    else PHP and Java are still good options..

    Computer programming is the process of designing, writing, testing, debugging, and maintaining the source code of computer programs. This source code is written in a programming language. The purpose of programming is to create a program that exhibits a certain desired behavior. The process of writing source code often requires expertise in many different subjects, including knowledge of the application domain, specialized algorithms and formal logic.

    Thanks,

    You can do almost anything qith .Net, however, you will be restricted with Windows this way.

    Java and PHP can be used on almost any computer and all kinds of applications can be made with them.
