I received error messages when submitting my webpages on Google Sitemap: Unsupported file format
Your Sitemap does not appear to be in a supported format. Please ensure it meets our Sitemap guidelines and resubmit.

Can anyone please explain how to submit on Google sitemap?

Do I have to create xml pages?

What and how do I create xml pages if that is the requirement.

If you go to Google and search for "free google sitemap generator" you'll be able to find all kinds of helpful software and services.

Do a google search for "xml generator" and select the first link. This site also is helpful. If you are are submitting the sitemap through webtools, make sure you follow the instructions for the verifying the sitemap. Hope this helps.

thanks for the suggestion but Google is not as interactive as Warriors Forum. If you have any question ask in this forum and all you need is a few hours to have them answered. Google will take days.

Also, Google answers you by showing you relevant sites but Forums like this one will give you real people to answer your questions.

Opt for forums they are better. (of course don't ignore SEs)

upload it to your server and tell Google where it's located eg.

Lian, you got some great suggestions so far. Also consider doing a human Sitemap static HTML page. You can go to my site and click on 'Site Map' on the bottom for an example.

You don't need to do anything with the code.

When you've created your sitemap on the sitemap generator site, download the sitemap file from the link under "Download un-compressed XML Sitemap" and upload it into the "public_html" folder of your site eg.

    http://www.yourdomain.com

Then go to your Google Webmaster account and add your sitemap URL which will be:

    http://www.yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml

    Dave.

If you want to keep things really simple, you can just use a text file containing a list of al your pages. Xenu Link Sleuth generates such a file that Google will accept.
