Hi,
I have an issue with one of my sites.
For some reason when I type my website url into the browser, it redirects to the url name followed by /wp-admin/install.php

I've looked around online and tried rebuilding the SQL tables etc, but no joy.

Anyone seen this before, or have any advice?

    /wp-admin/install.php

Goes without saying that is the WP installation script.

Is this a new site? or existing site with content?

Additionally, this is a long-shot, but check your root/wp-content/upgrade directory. If there is anything in that folder, delete it. And then re-check your site.

Sounds like you're using WordPress as your entire site's content management system and installed it to your site's root, but didn't complete the installation. If you haven't, finish your installation by following the instructions given at the WordPress Codex which you can find by searching for "Installing Wordpress" on Google. (Can't post a link yet since I have less than 15 posts.) If you have finished the installation, check your root's .htaccess file and look for any sort of redirect to /wp-admin/install.php

After installation of WP, for security reasons, you must delete immediately the "install.php" file.

        Totally wrong.

If the Wordpress site was previously working, and you are redirected to the install page, then Wordpress no longer thinks it is installed, either because it can't reach the database, or because the database has gone missing.
