APC or Memcached? For Wordrpess

I am on HostGator Level 4 VPS. I am hosting a wordpress blog on it - How To Make Money Online and Blogging Tips – SmartBloggerz

Want to know, will APC be better for it? I am already using memcached through W3 Total Cache but as it says there; it is for those running on 'multiple servers' but for VPS/Dedicated; APC is recommended.

So should I pay the web host to get that also installed? Will it help in any better way? Please comment...

APC is a PHP Op-code cache. Memcached is simply a data (key-value) store.

They are not related in any way (though APC does also have it's own key-value store function).

APC will cause your PHP code to be compiled once, and re-used many times. memcached will (if the script supports it) store commonly used data in memory which will persist request to request.
