Membership Index site

I'm not sure this is the right forum, but I found it to be the closest to my question.

I would like to make an index like a mini yellow pages, but just for a single niche. Let's say it is for autoshops. So I would like to make an autoshop index where autoshop owners can buy a membership and get shown on the index site with website, phone number, biography, google maps, services etc.

Is that possible to create in Wordpress? and if so, what Plugins do i need? I'm interested in both free and paid plugins.

    it's not a good idea for wordpress. You would have so much customization that it would be useless. You are pretty much talking about a database with a UI on top of it. This would be custom work, and if you hired it out.. would probably cost you 10 to 20k
