In cpanel - look for fantastico.

On the left menu in fantastico you should see Wordpress.

Click on this and tell it to install Wordpress (DON'T ask it install on a subdomain)

Choose a username and password and click install.

Once you've installed wordpress, log-in to maydomain dot com/wp-admin with your username and password

Look for Themes/Install new on the left hand menu.

It's fairly simple, have you tried installing with fantastico in cpanel? Just choose wordpress, domain and select the directory where you want to install it. Should be created within seconds.

If you have a domain name with a different registrar than your hosting account, then you need to make sure to change the dns settings to point to your hosting account with your website. Otherwise your website won't show up, it will only show a parked page.

If you need help with setting it up, you can let me know. I can walk you through it.

Thanks for the reference schwarzes, It says my site is registered and active on the server stats (was that what I was looking for?). I am going to transfer my Blogger Blog onto my site by uploading and installing it with Wordpress. Do you guys know if my SEO efforts and links from my Blogger Blog will transfer to the new site?

I hope I don't have to start over

It will say it is active coz you have registered this domain. Go down and check the nameservers part, if it is pointing to hostgator, something like ns1.hostgator.com ( i dont know the exact value ), then you can start working on it.

About SEO and other sutff, I think you need to maintain the same URL structure as it is now. But since you are transferring it from Blogger, it is equal to starrting it all over again I guess. Not sure, coz I am not an SEO expert.

You should have gotten a welcome email from Hostgator, it will have your dns setting in the email. It will look like ns45.hostgator.com ns46.hostgator.com Then the tricky part is going back to Godaddy and finding your DNS settings. You need to login and find your Domain Manager, then find your domain name in your list manager. There will be a little Icon in a header row that says Nameservers...click that and then click the radio button that says you have hosting somewhere else. Then it will bring up a new window that will show the dns settings for Godaddy, you just need to replace those with your hostgator nameservers. It usually takes about 3-4 hours for it to completely propagate.

Now, as far as moving your blogspot to your wordpress...that's tricky. I know there is a way of "cloning" the site and moving it to Wordpress, but because it will be a new domain name, all your SEO and backlinking will probably be lost.

    I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

    Karen

One more piece of advice...when moving your site to a wordpress blog, make sure you use a privacy policy plugin to be compliant with the Google Adsense TOS.

It looks like 3to30 is another service provider site like Fiverr, but it's 3 dollars to 30 dollars for the services.

I was not familiar with this site... that's good to know.

    Here is help for you

I don't know if all the hosting companies have Quickinstall
This is a much simpler way that is offered by Hostgator and it is
better than Fantastico. You will find Wordpress Quickinstall in the cpanel
    left navigation area.

    Open cPanel.

    Click on Fantastico Deluxe.

On the next page that appears, click on Wordpress.

    Next click on New Installation.

Under Installation location -> Install on Domain click on the little scrolling down arrow and select the domain name you wish to install Wordpress on.

Install in directory - you can leave this box blank.

Admin access data in here you would normally just put admin.

Password, here I would choose a password to login into my administration dashboard at domain(dot)com/wp-admin so whatever you want to put in here. (I would advise choosing something a little complicated using upper and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols. Again I save this into my little alphabetical password book - domain(dot)com/wp-admin - Username: admin Password: your password.)

Under Base Configuration Admin Nickname... admin (or whatever you choose.)

    Admin email: your email address.

Site name: Your website name & description.

    Next click on Install Wordpress.

Next page click on: Finish Installation.

On the next page if you want to send the details of the installation to your email address, put your email address into the box provided and click on: Send Email.

I hope this helps you out.

    Kindest regards,

    Pete Walker...

Very detailed notes from Pete here. I just finished installing a new domain I bought from godaddy today too, so all the steps are still very fresh in my mind. I am sure there is a video on this on YouTube ...
