Should i spend time learning coding??

I realised that ever since i start internet marketing,I have been posting in warrior forums about technical questions like web coding, many mentors said that you don't need to have any technical knowledge to succeed in this industry. However,I was thinking that if I know how to code,at least I can save more time doing other things that were more important. So should I spend time learning or just post my technical problems on forums??

Learning the basics to overcome common technical problems would be very beneficial.

However, learning to actually 'code' something requires years of commitment and a real passion for the subject.

If you don't feel passionate about coding then outsource it (or ask in the forums and hope for some luck).

    Hope that helps

I agree, I think a basic working understanding is easy enough to get, and would hold you in good stead, but the return on effort might not be worth learning it to an expert level,

It is always good to get more knowledge in your field. Knowing how to program websites is very good in the long run. You could always design websites for local business and get some extra income. I think it would be smart to learn at least html and css and work your way up from there. It shouldn't take long at all to learn. Best of luck and you can always ask technical question is forums.

Errr I started to learn web coding back in the nineties basically because I liked to do it.
In the grim reality of the now, I really wouldn't learn it and really wouldn't care because if you're an internet marketer you really don't need to know how to do it.

Pay someone on Fiverr to do it and do the marketing yourself .

As long as you are learning coding to improve your general IM skills and not because you think its preventing you making money. Then learn coding. If you think it is the missing link to you making your fortune online then be warned there are many coders on the forum who don't know marketing and aren't making money (I'll admit I'm one of them). So you may be better off focusing on the marketing and outsourcing the techy bits.
Even if you'd like to "learn coding" its not as simple as that as there are so many languages to choose from. Html, PHP, ASP, .net, java ... The great thing in your favour is there is a massive amount of free tutorials online. There is even one in my sig ;-)

I thought of this a few years ago, but decided against it...and I'm glad I did.

You should know the basics of putting a webpage on the internet. (Servers, using HTML editor, etc). I wouldn't waste my time with much more than that.

Instead, focus on building a team of people that you can call on and help you in various technical areas (site design, programming, MYSQL, wordpress, etc). Much more beneficial.

  • You should learn the basis of coding, that you will need on your maybe everyday business. But to learn everything in detail it will take a very very long time and I think it is not needed in internet marketing

If you don't post the basic technical questions here, on this "money making forum" - then it's OK.

^^ As everybody said: YES, for the basics... as for example, copy/pasting a form code into a web page or a widget. (Not to be mean but that was another thread of yours, Haruki...)

You don't need to learn "coding" (anyway, that's a too vague definition...) but it is useful to have a basic understanding of the web and html.

If Your passion is coding and you don't need the money, then by all means go and learn computer coding. But if not, then don't bother, to be good at it you have to put a lot of time into it, I should know i spent long enough learning C++ language. It all depends on what you want to do. If you want to make money, then let someone else do the coding for you, all you need to do is concentate on running a business, your time is better spent on doing that.

    • I would learn how to edit coding. because you may need it to use some of google's business solutions such as google analytics. But I would not wast time learning everything.

There's no such thing as "learning everything" in programming.

I've been an active (hyperactive!) developer for probably 10 years now and each month brings something new, something that I hadn't used or needed before, something that poses a challenge. If you're the type of person who enjoys challenges on a regular basis, then programming can be super addictive - it certainly has been for me.

About the level of programming knowledge a person should have - it all depends on your needs. If you're selling info products, then some HTML and CSS plus the basic knowledge of server administration and FTP goes a long way.

I, on the other hand, am selling super complex algorithms that are packed into easy-to-use powerful software. It's very challenging and it was extremely difficult and time consuming to get to this point, however I wouldn't change it for anything. I live very well selling software that others simply can't create, I have scripts that do tons of work for me, and I can always focus on what really matters.

So, it's not a "one size fits all." But certainly you'll have to figure out some HTML and CSS, plus some basic server administration and FTP sooner or later. That's just the life of an Internet Marketer.

    Good luck!

My suggestion. Learn html, css, javascript + jquery , php (in that order)
should take about 1-2 month(s) to get the basics and you'll probably figure out everything you need in IM.

I have one client that is a multi-millionaire IM person. He does almost all his own coding, and has for years. He'll never be as good as I am because he spends so much time on the business side of things, but knowing how to code made him self-reliant.

When I look at his code, I want to throw up, but at least he knows something. That said, I don't recommend his way of doing things (he works 70 hours a week), though it says something that he is so successful. We're talking 3-4 million a year success.

You do not require deep technical knowledge about programming to succeed in this industry. But it is good to have atleast some knowledge regarding HTML, CSS and PHP which are widely used in web designing and development. They are also pretty easy to learn and implement.

In many ways, coding isn't an harder than building a good search query with nested parenthesis with ands ors nots etc.. It is just basic logic for the most part. I was thinking the other day that it would be like not knowing how to read and write if I couldn't code.

If you really want to start internet marketing then the answer is yes, you must!

You don't need to be a coding guru actually, but some basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and MySQL is absolutely necessary. In future it will save you a ton of time and money. You thank me later.
