Video for Squeeze Page

I was hoping you could assist. I have been following the process and just finally got my first pre-launch video together with the help of a video expert. Seriously it is just images and voiceover in HD. However it is 109MB and takes 8 mins or so to download with buffering.

I am based in Aust and the cloud option with Amazon S3 is not available her - yet. Am I missing something? How do you make a 20min video with high definition images play quickly.

I realise this is probably a really dumb question but none of my internet experts can tell me what to do and before I drop more cash on video #2 it would be nice to know people can watch it.

Thanks
Jane

    Hi Jane,

If there's not too much movement going on in the videos, you can probably compress it further by reducing the bandwidth settings in whatever software you're using to convert the video to a format suitable for web. You can also squeeze the size of the file by scaling the dimensions of the video down.

However, 8 minutes for a 109Mb file seems quite a lot - it may be that your host is an issue here. Have you tried simply uploading it to a different host (i.e. S3) to see if it performs better?

Incidentally, I have a coaching student in Australia who recently had some issues streaming/downloading some videos that I provided her with which were hosted on Amazon Cloudfront. I solved the issue by simply scaling back the required bandwidth settings, without any noticeable reduction in quality.

    Hope that helps!

    -John.

    Just curious about this statement:

"I am based in Aust and the cloud option with Amazon S3 is not available her - yet"

I'm assuming that you mean Australia? If so I don't understand why S3 is "unavailable" to you?

The other choice would be YouTube, if it's a sales video and not a private one why not upload it there and embed it into your sales page? No cost to you as well.

    Perhaps I''m missing something?

To hire a designer to create a quality video squeeze page for you would cost hundreds of dollars. And trying to create one yourself from scratch could take hours.Just open up the templates in your favorite webpage editor and ...

    1. Edit the text
    2. Insert your video code
    3. Tweak the autoresponder code

I work with video on the internet everyday, and 8 min video with 109mb is small if your shooting with an high quality camera. Now your using a voice over with HD images, so you can cut that file in half and not lose any quality on the images. This also depends on what CODEC you are using when you render the file together. If its H.264 then you should fine reducing the file size down.
