Hi,

I'm based in the U.S and just purchased a vps. Its only 512mb and I plan on running amr on it only. The thing is when I ordered I requested a U.S based VPS because they had that option. Well, I just got my log in information and was given a UK based VPS. I haven't installed anything on it but have tried quickly browsing using internet explorer. IMO it seems quite slow considering the fact that there is absolutely nothing running in the background. I cannot tell if that is due to the fact that it is 512 mb or due to the fact that its in the UK. I quickly googled this and some are saying that for faster connection, you need to get a vps closer to your location i.e canadians would be bettr of with a U. S VPS etc, etc. Is this accurate? Should I request that they give me the U.s vps? Please advise....

Yes, you should get a VPS closest to you or your visitors. And the fact that you're running a Windows VPS on 512mb of ram probably has something to do with it being slow.

    Hi,

depends a lot on your hoster as well. I have a UK-based hoster which is damn fast and has a very, very good backbone connection - never had any complaints from anywhere.

But in general: The closer to the customer, the less the latency...

It also depends on whether you want to host webpages, or use the VPS to run SEO programs...

    Cheers,
