Hey,

I've been trying to learn programming for a while now to little or now avail. Part of it is that I am unfocused on the task and switching between HTML/CSS(not really programming but I count anyway) to PHP.... I want to learn programming well.

What are some good resources?

More importantly, where should you start? How do you get that skill to move to level 2?

Thanks

I went in this order HTML, CSS, learn basic php and mysql databases, then start getting into advance php. You need to have the basics down before you can move into advance stuff.

Here are some good books. Go in order 1, 2, and 3.

I cannot post links so look them up on amazon.

    1. HTML, XHTML, and CSS, Sixth Edition [Paperback]

    2. Learning PHP, MySQL, and JavaScript: A Step-By-Step Guide to Creating Dynamic Websites (Animal Guide) [Paperback]

    3. Beginning PHP and MySQL: From Novice to Professional [Paperback]

As well as the good books suggestion, it sounds like you need a small project to focus on.

It's hardest to learn something new when you're not focused on it.
