I know many here criticize free hosts. And even i know how annoying they are. But for curiousness i would like to know, is there any free web hosts that you believe that deserves.
Plz let me know if this post is under wrong category.

    Hi Satz,
What I used for about 3 years now is 000webhost dot com. They give you 1,5 GB of disk space and 100GB/month of badnwith, without any ads!

I've never had any problem, everything works as advertised, so there are no catch.

Freehostia.com is somewhat slow and dont support well with mysql.

awardspace.com has a file size limit with free hosting.

I recomend 000webhost.com. Comparably, they have a good free plan.

Even if I know that this can be difficult to get this, at least at the beginning, I would strongly recommend you to use a paid host.

HostGator has a package at a couple $ a month and if you are passionate enough you should be able to easily make some money with your website, at least to pay for hosting.

    satz27,

You can try to find the reliable paid hosts and ask them about "sponsored" hosting. I.e. for example, they host your site and you put their link(s) at your site.
For example, we do "sponsored" hosting for some projects we find interesting.
That way you can get a reliable paid hosting without actually paying for it. Of course, it depends on your site and your deal with the hosting provider.

There is a common thought in the web host market that all the no cost web web host services have restrictions in providing the functions to their clients. Before buying a particular no cost web hosting, you need to consider for how many years the company has been there in the market.

That's great. I didn't know there was any free hosting services that didn't require ads. I will definitely have to check that out if it's secure enough.

Actually, free hosting is very expensive than paid hosting, why is that? Because if you have quality site or blog using free hosting, how about if your hosting not reliable and nothing technical support.

    Best and Quality Hosting

I agree with everyone here that if you have some very serious website, you should go with some paid hosting. But if you're looking for some free hosting to test your pages 000webhost is great. Slow at the time, but other than that no problems.

As far as this talks goes about loosing your site if you use free hosting... it's just stupid :/
If you're smart you WILL ALWAYS keep backup of your website :/
But anyhow, if you're not testing your website, and if you want to make something out of that website, go with paid.

000webhost is pretty good (I actually use it) despite it's bad reputation, it gives you almost everything you need - but they have strict rules, so you have to read carefully the terms of service.

I don't really like free hosting. Because what i like from hosting company is their support and reliability which i'm willing to pay for. So if you want to grow big, don't waste your time to find free hosting. just use one that reliable hosting that you can find the review in this forum.
Or if you have a little bit technical skill, go for Amazon Ec2, build your own server with amazon microserver, which is free for 1 year. then tweak it so it can host your site.

If you can't afford $4 per month for hosting or $8 per year for a domain, then your website is not worth it.

      That's a bit harsh don't you think?!
Why would I/anyone pay for testing web sites?? Of course if you want a site to grow and get a lot of traffic, etc. You need to get paid hosting, much reliable, faster FTP, full time tech support... But for testing purposes, I don't want to pay even a dollar/year if I do not have to :/ ( it's not about the money, just not smart thing to do, if there are a lots of company that offer free hosting services :/ )
