I was having problems w/ my desktop and had a guy out to fix it and he asked me about my Malaware, whether I'd ever found anything with it and I told him I'd had maybe 2 hits in six months. He also asked about my AV and said he hadn't seen a virus in ten years, so on his adive, I uninstalled Malaware and Kapersky, keeping Spybot and CCleaner.

I then got into this IM biz and my computer bogged down, my browser and programs wouldn't open. I'd have to cheat to get either working and I couldn't install programs. Well, a lot of hair pulling, asking and running various fixes has finally got me back and I know I've been going places I shouldn't, so I installed Kapersky again and it was just hitting trojans left and right.

I know I'm going to need to tone this AV down to allow me to do business, but I don't know how. Any experts out there?

Im not an expert, but i have been using Kapersky for years.

and in the last 6 months it started to fail miserably, it would tell you a website was trying to load a virus, but it could not stop it from happening.

and it could not clean it after it did happen.

A few wks ago, this happened again, and it was so bad it wiped out
my network with 9 pcs on it, and my laptop.

took a ton of work to get everything cleaned up.

i switched to malware bytes and superspyware cleaner and then i visited every place i know not to visit, trying to get infected to see if the programs would do there job, they have.

at this point, i feel comfortable doing my research, without fear.
with Kapersky, i had to super careful, and then just one ooops and bamm

Prob NOT the post you were looking for, but i felt you needed to hear it.

get rid of Kapersky, get avast.

During college I was an it admin, I have some experience with virus programs.
Kapersky sucks, they just have a great marketing department.

Get adaware by lavasoft and run it. I bet you have lots of spyware installed by kapersky.
Both programs I mentioned have free versions.
