A Smart Phone Like Effect??

Hey,

I'm wondering is it possible to be able to click with your mouse and swipe it to the left or right to move a webpage?

For example if I had a really wide webpage that went to the right could I click and swipe my mouse to the left to move the webpage?

It's hard to explain! But just like on a touch screen device where you swipe your finger.

If so please can you point me to a site that is using this?

Thanks

Ricky

The smartphone has changed the way we think and live. It is no surprise that the market is flooding with these incredibly manufactured by different companies. Also, there are many applications available that make these devices even smarter.

When I click with my mouse, would it hold it or swipe it?

This can be done with ajax and also flash. Netflix does this with many of their pages. If you are looking for something non web based and want your mouse to do this, depending on your mouse the software that comes with it or can be downloaded maybe able to program your mouse to enable this type of feature.

On my Logitech mouse, it has a multi-switch middle mouse button that allows to scroll the screen back and forth but these options can be programmed to do anything I want.

There is also an option to auto scroll up and down the page based on my mouse movement, this could also be used to scroll left and right.

For in page feature, on an actuaql website you need to use javascript or ajax. There is also flash but on some phones flash does not work. There maybe some option in Html5 as well but I don't know what you are using to build your sites. Wordpress probably has plugins to do this with various content as well, if you are using wordpress. Other CMS's would probably have similar addon's or plugins you can get as well.

Check out flashxml.net. I have found some awesome codes to use in my flash sites. I'm sure they have something your looking for.

I don't think you can do that directly in HTML. Sounds more like an effect that would be OS based.
Maybe with some huge JavaScript/JQuery? Flash definitely works, but then again, who wants to use flash nowadays for an entire website.

I'm thinking a little of this: Flux Slider Demo » Hardware accelerated image transitions using CSS3

With a little of onClick() And you'll be off you the races.

Honestly, while it will be easier to figure it out with jQuery or other external resources, it will use much less resources and port to many more future applications if you design it with CSS3 and HTML5 alone. And I know it can be done (ie, drag and drop div objects that change transparency as they exit max range, or a cover div that actually slides over a long horizontal div, but uses negatives and indexes to make the under-div flow on top)

The usual PC effect for click and swipe is to highlight the text. The closest thing I could find that wasn't cell phone or touch pad technology is this Scrolling Divs Examples but it isn't what you asked.
