Site down and Host won't reply. Help!

Periodically my site goes down without me touching it and the host provider eventually does something which fixes the problem.

This time it's been three days and they have not replied to my support tickets; so I'm starting to lose a fair bit of money and visitors. It's streamline.net - I wish I'd known how awful they are before going with them.

Any ideas on how to get their support?
Thanks

Do you have a backup of the site (database too if you used one)? If so, I would suggest going with a different company. Though if your talking about your proenglish site, its live right now (though missing a whole lot of <style>). And your form doesn't work, it errors out and redirected too fast for me to catch the error. Also, there is no English translation option, which I found kind of funny as its a site about learning English.

I have stupidly not been keeping a backup over the years of uploading stuff, otherwise I'd change like a shot.

The weird thing is like you say the msql site is live but there is no style to wp and no html pages from the domain are live.

I offer hosting for that reason, as a designer I had a number of clients who needed better support for their sites, so it made sense for me to offer it. The difference in these companies is support when things go wrong. Many don't care about your business.

It's not acceptable that they're not replying to your support tickets...

Hosting is a lot of trail and error, I can't give 100% marks to anyone - but your site going down that often is unnecessary...

My advise is to get of shared hosting all together. If your serious, the advantages and oportunities are huge when you have your own dedicated server. You get better protection from malware issues as well. You can get a smart server now for around $79 and you can charge others for hosting them on your server.

3 days with no response? That's insane. Make sure you start keeping backups of your sites as well and start looking for another host. By this time, I hope you have found another host. 3 days of downtime, is completely unacceptable.

Unless the OP knows how to manage a server, or manage web hosting I would advise against this. A site without the requirements of a dedicated server, or even a VPS would be a waste of money. As for security, the same vulnerabilities with shared hosting are there with using a VPS or dedicated server.

It seems that your host had some internal problems, what you can do is move to another host. Do you have any back-up of your website?

I've come across some terrible web hosters in the past 11 years. I've been with Host Gator for the past 2 years now and I must say it's the best uptime I've had in a very long time.

If you have a backup, simply switch to Host Gator. 3 Days downtime is a very long time by the way. Maybe you can ask for a refund of your current hoster. Have a look at the T&Cs what it says about downtime.
