HELP: Upgrading Magento Cart from ver 1.4. to 1.6 and Google Base Feed
I currently have Magento version 1.4
I desperately want to upgrade to version 1.6 so that I can begin using the Google Base (Merchant Center) feed as I understand that version 1.4 will not integrate with Google Base.
Is anyone successfully using Google Base feed with 1.6?
The fields I need to upload to Google are:
id
item_group
color
title
link
price
description
condition
brand
mpn
gtin
image_link
product_type
google_product_category
availability
shipping
I believe some of the above fields will be mapped automatically from Magento to Google.
Am I correct in thinking that the other fields, such as 'google_product_category' can be set up as attributes and then assigned to attribute set. Then, I can go through and populate these for each product?
I'm asking all this becuase I've been told by my develop that he will charge $250 for the upgrade and that I must purchase the most recent versions of any extension I have, of whihc I have two: onestepcheckout and reviews boost.
The upgrade will cost most than $350, which is a great deal of money fr me and I want to be sure that the Google Base Feed will work.
Sorry for the long post but I would greatly appreciate any advise, especially from those who have successfully setp up Google Base feed using the above fields.
